And Then I Kissed Her

well i went up to her and asked if she wanted to dance
she looked eager and i thought she might take a chance
when we danced i held her tight
and all the stars were shining bright
and then i kissed her.

each time i left her
i could not wait to see her
i wanted to let her know that i was more than a friend
i did not know just what to do
so i confessed, "I love you!"
and she exclaimed she loved me too..
and then i kissed her.

we went out on several dates
and i realsied that she was my one true mate.
so i asked her, "would you be mine forever?"
she said, "too late, im dying. no point trying"
I cried, "you're my whole life. without you i cant survive
i'll be with you through thick and thin
together we'll be skin on skin"

so here we are,
we've some so far
through the good times and the bad
the pain and joy we've shared

sitting by her side near the hospital bed
carressing my beloved wife's forehead
minutes, seconds passing by extremely slowly
i gazed at her big brown eyes and smiled reassuringly

i took her limp hands in mine
my dear wife looked all so divine
i clasped her frail fingers
as the angel of death lingers

she looked into my eyes above
filled with so much pain and love
she said, "darling do not cry,
i will always love you, you cant deny.
oh my sweet sweet dear
do not fear coz i'll always be near
you're the greatest thing that happened to me
leaving you now fills me with much sorrow and pity."

"No, no, dont sound that way.
dont feel sad that you're leaving me this way
I'd rather die it's true
than living a moment without knowing you."

as i said those last words
my wife took her last breath
her heartbeat went flat
i could not react
tears streaming down

I tucked her in gently
and held her closer
in my arms she 'slept' peacefully
and then i kissed her.
